No, I Haven't Disappeared

Ahhhhh! I'm alive, I swear. I would like to say that my lack of blogging lately is due to something really great and exciting, but basically it boils down to pure procrastination.

Now that the Holiday Season has officially arrived, I do have a few projects up my sleeve and I promise to share them all here shortly. PROMISE!

PS-I would also like to give a shout-out to my friend and follower in Brooklyn.....HI JILL!

Jackson Hole, WY 2012

I apologize for things being quiet over here at Blonde Moments In The 'Burbs. Life is moving at warp speed and I can barely keep my head above water. This is the busiest time of year at my 9-5 day job...oh joy! But the husbo and I did manage to sneak in a trip to Jackson Hole, WY. I extended my stay after a work trip - one of the perks of being a meeting/event planner! Here are some photos...

We were blown away by the beauty of Jackson Hole. If you haven't been before, I highly recommend you put it on your bucket list!

Blonde Moment # 5612

I couldn't find my keys yesterday morning.
I tore the house apart.
This is where I found them.
No joke.

Recap: 2 Blondes & a Truck Roadtrip

My sister and I took our second "2 Blondes & a Truck" roadtrip last month to the Country Living Magazine's annual fair in Columbus, OH. This year's trip was just as fun (if not more) as last year.

I got to drive my brother-in-law's Ford F150 again - and thoroughly enjoyed it!

We made several stops along the way to hit a some antique shops.

One was more quirky than the next!

Guess this is the taxidermy department? LOL!

We even stumbled upon a longhorn ranch. I've never seen a longhorn up close and personal. They are pretty impressive!
Oh - I've recently been interested in buying a bike. Loved some of these vintage ones we stumbled upon.

Once we got to the Country Living Fair, it was serious business. It's so big that you need a map to navigate.

The vendors definitely put A LOT of effort into their booth displays.
Everywhere you looked, there was such great stuff!

This booth even had built up the entire
facade of their booth! Crazy stuff!

Some more.....

This was a vendor selling refurbished and uniquely decorated vintage campers. They were pretty wild. Anyone ready to go "glamping" (glamorous camping)? I am!
We walked the entire fair twice and filled up our schlepper cart. As you can see, my sister was exhausted. Shopping is hard work!

Kudos to Country Living Magazine for putting

on another awesome event.

It was an awesome girls weekend with my sister!!!

Yup, This Actually Happened...

We noticed a "funky" smell in the basement last night. We couldn't figure what the heck it was? Thank god we have this guy's nose to help us out.

Because he led us directly to the source...

It's a mole or vole or some distant relative. He was stiff...right next to my holiday ribbon. Some nerve.

But the husbo came to the rescue.

He used a random piece of cardboard to scoop it up. My hero.

Then it was my turn to clean up the stinky "deposits" this thing left behind. Emmit was thoroughly intrigued by the shenanigans taking place.

Don't be jealous of my orange rubber gloves.

It was pretty gross.

The adventures in the 'burbs are unpredictable!

PS-I know I still owe you guys a recap of the "2 Blondes and a Truck" road trip. Promise to post that soon!

We're Baaaack!

My sister and I are fresh off the truck from our "2 Blondes & a Truck" road trip. We had a blast and the Country Living Fair definitely did not disappoint. I have been thrown back into my 9-5 and I can barely keep up today. Will blog more soon about our adventures.

Stay tuned!

Welcome to the 'Burbs, Girls

A few new additions to share with you...

I picked this gal up at a yard sale. She's in great shape but in desperate need of a makeover. Best part about her? She cost $60! Can't wait to repaint her....stay tuned for the progress.

Also bought this mirror from One Kings Lane.
It was love at first sight.

She found a home on our bedroom wall. Adore her.

PS- '2 Blondes & a Truck Road Trip Part 2' will be taking place this weekend. I am SO excited to take this road trip with my sister to the Country Living Magazine Fair in Ohio. Read more about our adventure last year and stay tuned for a recap of this year's trip!

Lamp Envy

lamp envy [lamp en-vee] verb:
a feeling of covetousness in regard to another's fabulous lamp

***

Pottery Barn almost always gives me lamp envy.

I am IN LOVE with this one...

This one reminds me of the beach.

Ballard Designs also has some pretty glass lamps...

Lately I have been itching to upgrade our bedroom lamps to one of these styles. So I did some shopping...

I found these at my local TJ Maxx. Had to have them. Let me remind you of the IKEA lamps that we've had for the past 7+ years...

Here are the new lamps.

They were a fraction of the price of the Pottery Barn and Ballard Design versions...cha-ching!

Love them!

When Life Gives You Tomatoes...Make Sauce!

LAST WEEK was a blur. I ran an conference in Boston for a group of 250 people. I got to see the inside of the hotel, the inside of the hotel, and well...the inside of the hotel. Oh the life of an event planner.

SATURDAY was filled with yard work - which involved (the husbo) picking up 2 dead baby squirrels out of the back yard. Ummm, gross and sad at the same time.

I spent SUNDAY with my family at a farm that our friends own/run. We usually go once a summer to visit and pick veggies. We picked HORDES of veggies - as if they were going out of style. Yup, this 'burb girl went "country" for the day. And I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Here is their chicken coop. Gathering eggs is a dirty job, but someone's got to do it. The thought of one of these things pecking at me was frightening, so I let my sister do the gathering. I am such a chicken - no pun intended.

We picked melon, corn, peaches, peppers,
squash, eggplant, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc.

I picked an entire case of San Marzano tomatoes...with the help of my 4-year old niece. According to Wikipedia, these are the best sauce tomatoes in the world. I am going to attempt to make homemade sauce. Feel free to offer up your advice or personal recipes. I have NEVER done this before.

When life give you tomatoes...make sauce!

From Drabby to Shabby: Roll Top Desk

Here is my latest furniture makeover.
Remember this roll top desk?
She's a great piece, just not my style.

I saw her potential.

I wasn't sure how difficult painting her would be. But I turned to my trusty Annie Sloan Chalk Paint (ASCP)in Paris Gray and started painting. A few hours later...here is how she turned out.

And the inside....

I painted the brass drawer pulls with Rustoleum Dark Bronze spray paint. I also thought it would be fun to paint the inside of the drawers in ASCP Duck Egg blue.

And distressed.

I just adore her and all her shabby-chic glory.

My only dilemma now is do I keep her or do I sell her (gasp!)?
